Day 2: Part 2

In the evening when I was getting all settled in for the night my family told me to get my jacket and my camera. I did and we got in the car and drove maybe 5 or 10 minutes north next to the ocean. Then we stopped and walked on the boardwalk for a while (this was at close to 10 at night). From there we could see the amazing sight of Valpo and Viña at night! The hill was all lit up from the lights in the houses, it was like the milky way but closer and brighter! You can kind of see it in the back of the picture with my host mom, Isabella, and my sister, Andrea and me!
Despite there being lots of lights in the city the apartments/condos on the boardwalk were almost all dark. Andrea said that many people left after the tsunami but that a tsunami usually doesn't strike the same place twice. After that we drove back toward Viña and stopped at Bravissimo, a restaurant, where we ordered chocolate caliente (hot chocolate) and galletas (cookies). They were very good but the hot chocolate was not as sweet as at home, but still delicious! Also on our way to the boardwalk when stopped at a semáforo (stoplight) a guy with a stick came into the middle of the road and lit both ends of the stick and twirled it around and through it into the air! It reminded me of the fire days at juggling club! Very cool!
Then I got home, sat on the computer and went to sleep for a long time as we have un día libre hoy (a free day today!). If the sun comes out in the afternoon, Chaz, Mike and I are supposed to go to the beach but we'll see and hope! ^_^
ciao!
